Alabama A&M used a 16-0 run midway
through the second half to break
wide open a tight game and cruised
to a 69-53 win Saturday over Alcorn
State.
Felicia
Drummond came off the
bench to lead the Bulldogs with 15
points and nine rebounds.
Alexis Faulk
and
Dominisha
Johnson both added
career-highs with 11 points.
The
win pushes higher the Bulldogs'
best-ever SWAC start to a season a
6-0. Alabama A&M is now 10-7
overall and has won six of its last
seven games.
Alcorn State gave the Bulldogs
fits throughout much of the first
half and into the second half. The
Braves held a 29-24 edge at the half
and pushed the lead to as much as
seven points twice in the first two
minutes of the second half.
Alabama A&M responded by forcing
10 turnovers in a seven-minute
stretch that decided the game. For
the game, AAMU forced 19 miscues and
converted those into 18 points.
AAMU's bench outscored Alcorn's
35-7.
The Braves were led by Rasaan
Powell's 23 points, however 13 of
those came in the second half after
the game's outcome was pretty much
decided. Tanika Nunez had 11 points
for the Braves, now 9-8 overall and
5-2 in the conference.
