Delta Devils Defeat Panthers

Itta Bena, Miss. ---- The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils
returned home and defeated the Panthers of Prairie View A&M. MVSU
came out with winning in mind and they refused to be deterred as the final
score was 64-61.

The Delta Devils took the lead at the 18:26 mark 3-0 when Michael
Clark was found in scoring position by Jeffery Price and maintained
the lead throughout the half taking a five point lead (27-22) into the
break.  During the first half scoring for the Delta Devils was lead by
Kadrain Byrant with nine points and five rebounds. Richard Cannon and
Michael Clark each added five points. Cannon also added six rebounds.

For the Panthers Brian Ezeh lead scoring during the first half with
seven points and three rebounds. Andy Genao added six points.

Scoring for the second half began when Michael Clark nailed a jumper
at the 19:19 mark increasing MVSU’s lead to 29-22.  The Delta Devils
did not hold the lead the entire game as the fell behind 46-51 at the
6:31 mark. The game was tied at the 3:23 mark, 53-53, when Cannon went
to the free-throw line. Having missed the first of two Cannon’s second
shot at the free throw line secured the lead for MVSU.

Cannon led MVSU in scoring with 17 points and seven rebounds.  Clark
and Bryant each added 11 points, three and six rebounds respectfully.
 
The Panthers were led by Ezeh with 17 points, seven rebounds, and two
assists. Also aiding the Panthers was Genao with eleven points and
four rebounds.

The Delta Devils will be in action again on Monday January 22 at 7:30
p.m. when they host Texas Southern in the Harrison HPER Complex in
Itta Bena, Miss.
