Raleigh,
NC – The Mid-Eastern Athletic
Conference (MEAC) announced its
pre-season All-MEAC team, along with the
basketball order of finish predictions
and DSU’s senior forward Roy Bright was
named the pre-season Player of the
Year. The Hornets were also predicted
to finish second in the upcoming 2007-08
championship race.
The
announcement was made this past Tuesday
at the MEAC Basketball Press Luncheon
held at the Sheraton Hotel in Raleigh,
NC. The pre-season all conference teams
and order of finish was voted on by the
league’s head coaches and sports
information directors.
Bright is
returning for his senior year after
enjoying a superb junior season which
saw him and former teammate Jahsha
Bluntt (two-time MEAC Player of the
Year) lead the team in scoring and
rebounding at 15.5 points and 4.9
rebounds per game.
The
Hornets collected 13 first place votes
along with Hampton, but the Pirates got
the nod as the predicted top team for
the upcoming season. The Hornets
finished the 2006-07 season 16-2 in the
MEAC and 21-13 overall, winning their
third straight regular season title.
