the CIAA Eastern

All-American center
Celeste Trahan has
been named to the
2007-08 CIAA Women’s
Basketball
Pre-Season team as
announced Thursday
morning at the
Annual Basketball
Roundup.
The Bowie State
University Lady
Bulldogs were picked
to finish atop the
CIAA Eastern
Division followed by
ECSU and Virginia
State while Saint
Paul’s and Virginia
Union tied for
fourth place. In the
West, Shaw
University was
picked as the
divisional champs
followed by at tie
for second between
Fayetteville State
and Johnson C. Smith
while Livingstone
and Saint
Augustine’s were
chosen fourth and
fifth, respectively.
The Pre-season teams
and predicted order
of finish are voted
on by the CIAA
Women’s Basketball
Coaches
Association.
Last season, Trahan
led the Lady Vikings
to their first ever
post season berth
after averaging a
league best 20.1
points and 12.8
rebounds per
contest. She became
the first Lady
Viking in school
history to be named
CIAA women’s
basketball Player of
the Year, was named
a NCAA Division II
WBCA All-American,
repeated as a
Daktronics
All-American and is
a three-time
All-CIAA honoree.
Trahan is currently
18th on
the CIAA’s All-Time
Career scoring list
at 1,582 points and
is in 5th
place in rebounds
with 1,160. Entering
her senior season,
she is averaging a
double-double of
18.6 points and 13.6
rebounds and has led
her team to two CIAA
Final’s appearances.
The Lady Vikings
will begin the
2007-08 season on
November 19th
when they
open up at home
versus Lincoln
University. Game
time is slated for
5:30
pm at the RL
Vaughan Center.
