The Barton College Lady Bulldogs
used a 24-2 run over the final ten
minutes of play to rally past the
Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings
73-70 at the 2007 N.C. Central Lady
Eagle Classic inside
McLendon-McDougald Gymnasium.
Barton
(3-4) trailed by 21 points with the
score 62-41 at the 10:17 mark of the
second half, when the Lady Bulldogs
went on their run to take a 65-64
lead on a Esty Flores layup with
5:02 on the clock. With 33 seconds
to go, ECSU reclaimed the lead on a
Cheniece Arthur layup with 33
seconds left. After a called Barton
timeout Casey Moore connected on a
three-pointer giving her team a
71-70 lead with 20 ticks left.
Trahan
had an opportunity to give ECSU the
lead with a trip to the charity
stripe with six seconds left but she
missed the first and then a lane
violation negated the second
attempt. Flores followed with two
free throws to give the Lady
Bulldogs the three point win.
En
route to All-Classic team honors,
Trahan paced the Lady Vikings with
28 points and 18 rebounds, the 69th
double-double of her career. Joyce
Freeman contributed a career high 17
points in the loss.
The
Lady Vikings (4-3) will return to
action on December 15th
when they travel to Charlotte, NC to
take on Johnson C. Smith University.
Game time is scheduled for 2:00pm.
