JCSU Thrashes Lincoln (Pa.) in

began their season the way it was
supposed to end…playing Lincoln
University (Pa.). The Golden Bulls
opened up their season three days
sooner than expected by
participating in the Carolina Ford
Dealers Thanksgiving Classic hosted
by Fayetteville State University.
JCSU filled in a last minute spot
for St. Augustine's College who
pulled out unexpectedly. The Bulls
won in thrilling fashion, smashing
the Lions (0-2) 91-52.
Senior
Maurice Hooper (Reidsville,
N.C.) became the 20th
member of the Golden Bulls 1,000
Point Club. His milestone came on a
free throw with 16:34 seconds in the
first half. He would go on to score
9 more points in the first stanza en
route to 15 first half points (19
total).
Led by the efforts of Hooper, the
gold and blue were able to hold
Lincoln to a dismal 25% from the
field. Hooper’s 19 points were tops
among all scorers this afternoon.
Freshman Ronald Thornhill
(Lawrenceville, Va.) had 11 points
on 4-of-6 shooting, three of his
baskets came from beyond the arc. David
Sanders (Buffalo, N.Y.) had his
first double-double of the season
with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Sophomore Jerry Hollis
(Charlotte, N.C.) fell one point and
one rebound shy of a double-double.
He contributed nine points, nine
rebounds, and four blocks in the
victory.
Lincoln was paced by Jermaine
Russell who recorded 18 points, four
boards, and four blocks. Dante
Blanton and Dominic Washington added
10 points each in the loss.
The Golden Bulls will host
Bluefield State College on Tuesday,
November 20, 2007. Game time is
scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Brayboy
Gymnasium.
