Scoring Drought downs Lady Blue Bears 46-70 to Shaw

Salisbury, NC – Two Livingstone scoring droughts in the second half expands a 24 point victory (70-46) for Shaw University (6-1, 2-1 CIAA) in William Trent Gymnasium. NeKeisha Anthony led the Lady Bears with 19 points while Jessica Davis and Jamie Goshen added 16 and 11 respectfully. Two Lady Blue Bears from the bench led the effort with nine points each; Brandie Shaw and Sherrell Lawson. Livingstone (1-7, 0-3 CIAA) trailed at the half 22-30.

After overcoming a slow start in the first five minutes of the game, Shaw preceded on a 9-0 run that ended with a three-point bonus play by Brandie Shaw with 10:45 on the clock. The Lady Blue Bears reached within four points (10-14) at 9:31. Sherrell Lawson scored the lay-up to help LC to its closest margin of half and led the Lady Blue Bears with seven points for the half.  Jessica Davis scored ten points for Shaw and helped the Lady Bears to an eight-point halftime lead of 30-22.

After halftime intermission, Livingstone did not score another field goal until 10:17. By this time Shaw increased its lead to 20 at 45-27. The Lady Blue Bears continued to show life despite its shooting woes by getting within 11 points with 5:21 remaining. Brandie Shaw led LC in the second half with seven points. NaKeisha Anthony scored 12 points in the second half to charge the Bears to the 70-46 victory.
