NCCU Athletics, WRJD Radio Partner Again to Broadcast Basketball Games
Eagles Basketball to Hit Radio Waves for First Time in More Than 10 Years

DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University Department of Athletics and WRJD 1410 AM announce another partnership - this time to provide radio broadcasts during the 2007-08 NCCU men’s and women’s basketball seasons.

NCCU Athletics and WRJD 1410 AM also partnered to broadcast the entire 2007 Eagles football season, the school’s first coverage of that kind since 1997.

WRJD, which distributes a signal that covers the entire Triangle and beyond, will carry 14 NCCU men’s and six women’s basketball games (see schedule below) as part of the WRJD/Eagle Sports Network.

 “We are again ecstatic that WRJD has such an interest in NCCU athletics to continue the partnership and broadcast NCCU basketball this season,” said Kyle Serba, assistant athletics director for media relations at NCCU, who indicated that it has been more than 10 years since NCCU basketball games have been on the air waves.  “We were extremely pleased with the football broadcasts and feel the basketball broadcasts will be of the same high quality. We are glad to bring NCCU basketball to our fans and the entire Triangle community through WRJD.”

Linda Greenwood, owner of WRJD, was equally excited to be carrying NCCU basketball games.  “We are very excited about our partnership with NCCU athletics and we look forward to broadcasting the basketball games this season,” said Greenwood.

All broadcasts will consist of a pre-game, halftime and post game show. Donal Ware will again handle play-by-play duties, while Hanif Omar will provide color commentary.

In addition to WRJD’s 1410 AM signal, the audio broadcast of the games will also be available on-line by logging onto www.nccu.edu/athletics or www.1410wrjd.com.
