63-59 WIN AT HOME
ECSU Picks Up Second CIAA Victory in
Close Game with Blue Bears

ELIZABETH CITY,
NC- The Elizabeth City State Vikings
picked up their second conference win of
the season with a 63-59 win over
Livingstone College Thursday night at
the R.L. Vaughan Center.
The Vikings shot
a season best 44.4% from the field
(24-54) and connected on 8
three-pointers.
The Vikings’
bench once again came to the rescue this
time courtesy of the play of backup
point guard Anthony Butler. The Detroit
native came off the bench to score 13
points, going 3-for-5 from downtown,
dished out 5 assists and had three
steals in 24 minutes. James Jeffries
also contributed 9 points and was
perfect from the floor (3-for-3). The
ECSU reserves outscore the Blue Bear
bench 28-9. In the second half the
Vikings shot a blazing 59% from the
field.
The game was a
see-saw affair that had 17 lead changes
and 7 ties with neither team leading by
more than six points with the exception
on one eight point advantage early in
the first half by Livingstone.
Michael Duncan
paced the Blue Bears with 16 points
while Tayloe Taylor and Calvin Gunning
rounded out the visitor’s double figure
scorers with 13 and 10, respectively.
Anthony Hilliard
fell one rebound short of a
double-double with 16 points and 9
boards. Matt Nowlin chipped in with 12
points and 8 rebounds.
The Vikings
(3-1, CIAA 2-0) will return to action on
Saturday, December 1st at
Saint Augustine’s College in Raleigh,
NC. Game time is slated for 7:30pm.
