UMES guard earns first MEAC honors.

PRINCESS ANNE, Md.-Junior guard Ed Tyson (Baltimore, Md./Walbrook H.S.) is making his
presence known before the start of the 2007-08 men's basketball season.  Tyson was recognized by
Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) head coaches and sports information directors as a
preseason All-MEAC second team selection after averaging 16.4 points per game (fifth in the MEAC)
and 4.3 rebounds per game last season.

Tyson the only Hawk returnee to average double-figures in scoring last season also led the team in
total points (509), field goals (172), and minutes (1119, second in the MEAC) in 2006-07, while
shooting 32 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range.

Also joining Tyson on the preseason All-MEAC second team are Michael Freeman (Hampton), Matt
Pilgrim (Hampton), Eugene Myatt (Howard), and Jason Wills (NCAT).

The preseason All-MEAC first team selections are Roy Bright (Delaware State), Steven Rush
(NCAT), Tywain McKee (Coppin State), Rashad West (Hampton), and Tony Murphy (Norfolk State).

The preseason order of finish was also released by the MEAC and UMES was predicted to finish 11th.

UMES kicks off the 2007-08 season Friday, October 12 at Hawk Hysteria, the first official practice of
the year.  Their first game is November 9 at Virginia Commonwealth University.
