MBB: Barton 74, Virginia State 69‏

WILSON, NC -- Virginia State University's Trey Mines scored a game-high
18 points, but Barton College was able to hold off VSU and come away
with a 74-69 win in Wilson, N.C., on Monday night.
 
Mines hit seven of 21 shots from the field, including four
three-pointers. Freshman Clifton Springfield-Cobb added 11 points while
senior Edwin Torres scored 10 points.
 
The Trojans were without the services of leading scorer Jamar Fleming,
who suffered an injured leg against Saint Augustine's College last week.
 
Barton, the defending NCAA Division II National Champion, was led by
Aaron Suggs and L.J. Dunn, who scored 15 points apiece.
 
The loss drops VSU to 3-5 on the season while Barton raised its' record
to 7-3 overall.
 
VSU next takes part in the Springhill Suites Midtown Classic, facing
Armstrong Atlantic State University on December 28 and Georgia College
and State University on December 29 in Savannah, Ga.
 
The Trojans return home for a rematch with Barton on January 2.
