Nate Biggs And Irene Jeptolo Named Crown
Trophy Student-Athletes Of The Week

WINSTON-SALEM, NC -
WSSU senior defensive back Nathaniel
Biggs (Durham, NC) and junior women’s
cross country runner Irene Jeptolo (Kapsabet,
Kenya) have been selected as the WSSU
Crown Trophy Student-Athletes of the
Week for the week ending September 23,
2007 for their impressive athletic
performances over the past seven days as
announced by the Winston-Salem State
University Department of Athletics.
Biggs, a 6’0”, 190-pound defensive back
turned in a stellar performance for the
Rams in a loss to South Carolina State
University on Saturday evening. Biggs
tallied eight total tackles in the game
including five solo tackles. In
addition he recorded an interception
which he returned 87 yards to set up a
WSSU score. For his efforts he has been
named the Crown Trophy WSSU Male
Student-Athlete of the Week.
Jeptolo, a junior cross country runner
and member of the WSSU track and field
team recorded her second first-place
finish of the season on Saturday morning
as she turned in a time of 24:04.2 en
route to capturing the championship of
the Old North State Cross Country
Championships. Jeptolo finished the 6k
course 17 seconds faster than her
nearest competitor as she led the Lady
Rams to a second-place team finish. For
her efforts she has been named the Crown
Trophy WSSU Female Student-Athlete of
the Week.
