MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY BASEBALL HONORS
Wildcats’ Jones, Rattlers’ Dill, and Aggies’ Beatty Earn Weekly Honors

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Bethune-Cookman University outfielder Neal Jones earned MEAC Player of

the Week honors in baseball, the league announced on Monday. Florida A&M’s Austin Dill was named

Pitcher of the Week, while North Carolina A&T’s Christian Beatty earned Rookie of the Week

accolades.

Jones (OF, 6-2, Jr., Cecil, Ga.) recorded one triple, one double and two RBIs and was 8-for-14 at the

plate to help the Wildcats to a 4-0 week. Jones batted .571 from the plate and scored six runs with four

stolen bases. He also contributed four putouts from the field position.

Dill (P, 6-2, Sr., Madison, Ala.) pitched his first career no-hitter and the fifth in school history in a win

over Norfolk State. In the victory, Dill struck out two of the 27 batters faced and allowed one run in

seven innings of play.

Beatty (OF, 5-10, Fr., Winston-Salem, N.C.) batted .417 (5-for-12) from the plate last week in a loss

against Gardner-Webb and three-game sweep of Coppin State. Beatty recorded his tenth home run of

the season to lead the MEAC in home runs and brought in one run against Gardner Webb. Against

Coppin State, Beatty recorded one triple, one double and two RBIs.

Other Top Performers:

Ernie Banks (NSU) recorded his second home run of the year against Florida A&M and posted an RBI

in all four of his games last week.

Luke Foss (NSU) struck out nine and allowed two walks in two games last week to improve to 8-2 on

the season.

Charlie Gamble (NCAT) was 7-for-12 with a .583 batting average to help the Aggies to a 3-1 mark last

week.

Francisco Rodriguez (BCU) struck out 10 of the 26 batters he faced in a win over Delaware State.
