ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Elizabeth City State University announces the official appointment of Thurlis Little as the Athletics Director.

He had held the Interim title since December of 2006.

Little's association with ECSU began with his days as a football player. He was a co-captain of the ECSU football team from 1962-65. He was twice named to the All-CIAA team as an offensive lineman and, in his senior year, he was a second team All-American.

He returned to ECSU in 1973 to coach the Vikings' offensive line and lead the wrestling team. He was head football coach from 1983-89. And he was inducted into the ECSU Hall of Fame in 1982.

Little became an administrator in 1989 when he was named assistant athletic director for compliance. In 2004, Little was named chairman of the department of health and physical education.

"It's a great honor to be able to serve this institution in this capacity," Little said. “As an alumnus of ECSU, I am excited about the opportunity to continue to give back as the University given so much to my life.”
