Rams Place Ninth at Manor

WSSU finishes strong in first
competition of 2008-09

FARMVILLE,
VA – The Winston-Salem State
Rams golf team continued their
strong showing at the Manor
Intercollegiate hosted by
Longwood University, Tuesday.
The Rams played well on the
18-hole Manor Resort in Prince
Edward County, Virginia. The
squad finished the event in
ninth place.
The Rams completed the
three-round event with a team
total 986. WSSU freshman Devin
Cherry led the way for the Rams
with a three-round score of 238.
He opened the event with a first
round 82, followed by a
second-round 76. He closed the
event with an 80 to lead the
Rams. WSSU junior Steven Mason
was not far behind Cherry as he
finished the event with a
three-round score of 240. Mason
turned in round scores of 82,
73, and 85 in respective rounds.
The Rams won’t have long to wait
before returning to the links as
the team will take part in the
Coca-Cola Black College Hall of
Fame Tournament in Atlanta, Ga.
from September 27th
and 28th.
