Lady Tigers Fall Short in Opener

Natchitoches, La--- The Lady Tigers soccer team of Grambling State University fell short in their season opener to the Lady Demons of Northwestern State University. GSU held NWSU’s scoring to a minimum of two goals, one each half but were unable to volley back with any of their own.

The Lady Tigers only had two shots for the night and they were by Angelica Singh and Ashley Baker. GSU’s Goalie Cherie Silas recorded eight saves as she faced ten shots on goals (SOG). The Lady Demons goalie, Lindy Strahan, recorded two saves; as both shots from the Lady Tigers were on target. Meghan Hunter and Maddy Hall scored the goals for Northwestern and were assisted by Lacie Hughes and Melodie Johnson respectively. The Lady Demons fired off a total if 26 shots on the night but both goals came in separate halves.

Catch the Lady Tigers in action when they travel to Ruston, La to take on neighboring rival, Louisiana Tech on August 28. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 pm.
