Four Tigers and One Lady Tiger Earn All-SWAC Honors

Bossier City, LA-Senior guard Trikeyia East was named to the Second Team All-SWAC women's basketball team Tuesday.

East, a 5-9 second-year Tiger from Houston, was the only Texas Southern women's player who received all-conference honors. She averaged 9.2 points per game, which ranked 16th in the conference. East pulled down a team-best 7.5 rebounds, which was second in the SWAC and matched teammate Inisha Daughtry's season average.

East ranked sixth in the league in steals at 2.4 per game. She had seven double-doubles this season.

She scored a career-high 20 points in two games this year, both times against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Texas Southern opens the SWAC Tournament at 5:30 p.m. Thursday against Grambling in Bossier City, La.

Senior guard DeAndre Hall was named to the Second Team All-SWAC men's basketball team Tuesday. He was one of four Texas Southern players selected to the league's all-conference teams.

Hall, a senior from Pontiac, Mich., averaged a team-high 16.3 points per game. He also pulled down 5.3 rebounds, and had a team-best 57 steals. His 1.9 steals per game ranked second in the SWAC. Hall scored a career-high 37 points against Mississippi Valley State on Jan. 23. He ranked third in the SWAC in scoring, and scored 20 or more points in 10 games, with two games over 30. He had three double-doubles this season.

Junior forward Travele Jones and junior guard Junior Treasure were named to the SWAC third team. Jones, a 6-8 newcomer from Los Angeles, averaged 14.4 points and a team-high 6.0 rebounds per game. Jones ranked seventh in the league in scoring and eighth in rebounding. His .490 field goal percentage ranked fifth in the SWAC. Jones had three double-doubles.

Treasure, a 6-3 transfer from Southern-Shreveport, averaged 14.5 points, which ranked sixth in the league. His 3.0 assists per game ranked ninth. Treasure scored a career-high 29 points at Southern in the season finale. He ranked second in the SWAC in free throw shooting at 79.7 percent and was fifth in steals at 1.8 per game.

Aaron Clayborn was named the SWAC Freshman of the Year. Clayborn, a 6-7 forward from Benton Harbor, Mich., averaged 5.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. He scored a career-high 18 points against Grambling on Feb. 13, and scored in double figures in four games.

Texas Southern will open the SWAC Tournament at 8 p.m. Thursday against Prairie View in Bossier City, La.
