Talaya Lynch Named Freshman All-American
MURFREESBORO - Chowan University's Talaya Lynch has another honor to add to her list of achievements in just one season with the Hawks women's basketball program after being named to the Women's Division II Basketball Bulletin's All-American Freshman Team. Lynch joins nine other freshman from small colleges around the country on the team. Earlier this season Lynch was voted the CIAA Rookie of the Year after posting big numbers in her first year of collegiate competition. Once named the CIAA Rookie of the Week Lynch, a native of Hampton, VA (Hampton HS), made an immediate impact in the Hawks first year in the CIAA. She ranked second on her team in scoring at 11.3 points per outing, good for 16th overall in the conference. She started all 25 games for CU this season and has led her team in scoring on 12 different occasions. She led the Hawks in both three-point field goal percentage and three-point field goals made this year.
