Houston, TX- The Texas Southern Tigers baseball team left this morning for Shreveport, Louisiana where they will fight for the 2010 SWAC Championship Title. The six day, double-elimination tournament will be played at Fair Grounds Field and features the top four teams from the SWAC Eastern and top four teams from the SWAC Western Division.The Tigers captured the #1 seed for the SWAC Western Division by finishing first with an 18-6 conference record. TSU ended the regular season with a 28-23 overall record which is the team’s
best since they’ve been playing NCAA Division I ball.Texas Southern will face Alabama State in their first game of the tournament at 6:00pm on Wednesday. The last time these two teams met was in the 2002 SWAC Championship Tournament in Shreveport, LA and TSU won 13-4.
The SWAC Championship game will be played on Sunday at 3:00pm and carried on ESPNU.
