Tigers Fall to Razorbacks in NCAA Regional Roderick W. Mosley 06/04/10 Fayetteville, Ark.--- The fourth-seeded Grambling State Tigers had a rough outing in a, 19-7, loss to the top seeded Razorbacks of Arkansas in game one of the 2010 Fayetteville Regional for the NCAA Men's College World Series. The Tigers continued to swing the bats well today banging out13 hits and played solid defense as they did a week ago throughout the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament. Unfortunately for the G-Men, the Hogs bats were just as hot as they pelted GSU pitchers for 17 hits including nine homeruns. The Tigers trailed, 8-0, after two innings before Chris Wolfe singled to left field and scored on an Arthur Mazierski double in the third. The Razorbacks answered with three-runs in their half of the inning but following a scoreless fourth by both teams, GSU put together their biggest inning of the day scoring three runs in the fifth to cut the lead to 11-4. Arkansas would tack on a single run in the bottom of five but the Tigers again answered in the sixth inning when Mazierski scored on an Alvin Simmons bases loaded single to right. The Razorbacks added three runs in the seventh before GSU put two runs on the board in the top of eight. Grambling’s Milt Barney went three-for-five at the plate with a run scored and two RBI’s. Anthony Clifton went two-for-four with two runs scored to lead a group of four Tigers with two hits. Odingo Davila suffered the loss allowing eight runs in only one and two-thirds innings of work. Brett Eibner paved the way for the Razorbacks with a four-for-five plate day including three home runs, five runs scored and seven RBI’s. Andy Wilkins went three-for-four with three runs scored and four RBI’s. Sam Murphy picked up the win in four and two-third innings of relief work.
