New York Yankees' Granderson to speak on campus next month‏

ITTA BENA – One of Major League Baseball’s most talented players is scheduled to speak on campus next month.

Curtis Granderson, a centerfielder for the New York Yankees, will speak at the H.G. Carpenter Auditorium on Jan. 20, 2012 on the campus of Mississippi Valley State University.

The event, brought to you by the MVSU Athletics Department and Men’s College, is set for 10 a.m. at the H.G. Carpenter Auditorium.

Area school districts are invited to attend the event, which is free of charge. Granderson will take pictures with attendees following the event.

Granderson is a eight-year veteran who played for the Detroit Tigers (2004-09) before joining the Yankees in 2010. The Blue Island, Ill. native hit a career-high 41 homeruns this season and finished fourth in the American League MVP race.

His parents, Curtis and Mary, are both MVSU products.
